Here are the three questions:

Q: Based on PUB 3 - WHAT WORD COMES TO MIND  AS FAR AS WHAT YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD? CAN YOU TACKLE PUB 3 with passion and enthusiasm?

Epictetus was a famous philosopher  he lived (55- 135 AD) who  was first a slave then became a philosopher, teacher and spiritual motivator  in his famous book  "The Art of Living"  he passionately states:

"Attach yourself to what is spiritually superior, regardless of what other people think or do. Hold true to your aspirations no what is going on around you. First, say to yourself, what would you be.. then, do what you have to do."

What do you think Epictetus means by this? How does this quote impact you as a scholar, thinker and even more so , a young person making imprints in the world?

SEE YOU WEDNESDAY ON ZOOM!!! 10am !

The word that comes to mind that i wish to see in this world is peace.. i can most definitely tackle PUB 3 with passion and enthusiasm. Epictetus quote to me basically means, no matter what people think or say, do whatever makes you happy and brings you peace of mind. This quote impacts me as a scholar because, in this world there are always going to be people who disagree with you, but regardless of the hate, i know that my peace is more important and will continue to strive for my dreams and aspirations.

  2. The word that comes to mind that I wish to see in the world is happiness. I am ready to tackle PUB 3 with passion and enthusiasm. The quote means that you shouldn't listen to other people on what you should do, but do what makes you happy and something that you enjoy. This definitely has an impact on me as a scholar because there are always people trying to tell you that this is what you should do, but that is what makes them happy. Something that makes them happy is propaply not going to make you happy. Happiness is very important to have in life.

  3. The word that comes to mind that I wish to see in the world, harmony. I am ready to tackle that last pub homework, which is PUB 3, with passion and enthusiasm. By reading this quote I feel like it basically saying don't always believe what other people think, you should stick to what you want to do, and follow your own path. This does impact me as a scholar because everyone has there own way of doing things, in this case, people that are older then me would tell me what I can and can not do. However if in general if everyone just did as they are told it would make one step closet for the world as a society to live in harmony.

  4. The word that comes to mind as far as what I wish to see in the world is peace. Yes, I am ready to tackle Pub #3 with passion and enthusiasm. The quote by Epicetus means that we have to try our best to stay true to ourselves no matter what is going on around us. We have to do things because we want to do them and not because the people around us are doing it. Fitting in is not always the right choice. This quote impacts me as a scholar, thinker and even more so, a young person making imprints in this world because we are always going to have people in our lives telling us what to do but at the end of the day we should be doing what makes us happy.

The first word that comes to mind is resilience. Hopefully everything can make its way back to being normal and our economy can jump back to being where it was at before the virus. The worst thing that can happen is to change our way of living because of this epidemic. I am ready to tackle PUB 3 with passion and enthusiasm. By reading Epictetus' quote, I definitely believe people should go after their dreams and what they aspire to do, but also being cautious because plan A doesn't always end up working. Having back up plans is not a danger to achieving your main goal, its a back up to make sure you dont end up struggling if your dreams dont work out.

  6. The first word that comes to mind that I wish to see in the world is peace. I am ready to tackle PUB 3 with passion and enthusiasm. The quote by Epictetus means you should focus on things that make you happiest and on the things that you believe in. We have to try our best to stay true to ourselves and our beliefs no matter what other people may think. This quote impacts me as a scholar, thinker, and even more so, a young person making imprints in this world because we are the future generation. As we get older, we need to instill our beliefs in one another. We are always going to have people who want to see us fail but if we believe in ourselves and stay true to what we believe in, nobody's opinions will matter.

  7. The first word that comes to my mind is hope. In a world we live in today, it's important to keep our spirits high and our hopes up. I was able to tackle Pub #3 confidently. What I think Epictetus means by his quote is that the skys the limit. I feel like he’s advising everyone to gain knowledge from their superiors while always staying true to yourself. I feel like as a scholar this encourages me to stop at nothing to get the career I want.

  8. I think Epictetus means that you should consistently evaluate yourself and your position in life. You should take a look in the mirror and humble yourself and see where you are and then think to yourself about where you want to be. If those two things are not the same then you need to think to yourself about what you need to do to get from where you are now to where you want to be. In order to get to where you want to be it is as simple as doing what you need to do to get there.

  9. The first thing that comes to mind is honesty. I think that you should always stay true to yourself no matter how hard that is. We live in a world where the person you should trust the most is yourself. I can't wait to start Pub 3, it will be weird that this semester is going to be over after that. This quote impacts me as a scholar because college is hard and at the end of the day your decisions impact your future and just push yourself and stay true to what you believe in. Don't listen to others if you believe you know what is best for yourself.

  10. The first word that comes to mind as far as what I would like to see in the world is honesty. If everyone was honest people would not go through such hard times, the truth always comes out. I am a very passionate and enthusiastic person so I am totally ready for PUB #3! I think Epictetus means that you have to follow your gut first and follow only your actions not others. The people who stand out the most are the ones who led not follow. Always follow your heart, and your goals are never too far away, the harder you work at them the closer they get. Actions get you where you need to be. This quote really speaks to me because as a young person I have the whole world at my hands and in order to be successful I need to go out there and take action to make my goals and dreams come true. I am the controller of my life, and what other people say or do can't take affect over me.

  11. The first thing that comes to my mind is happiness. I think everyone deserves to be happy, it breaks my heart to think some people dread waking up everyday. I can't wait to get started on PUB #3, I enjoy writing reflective papers and I like this topic. I think Epictetus is trying to explain how important it is to stay true to yourself and stick with what you believe in. At the end of the day, you're the one that has to live with your decisions...not the people you try to impress by making them. As a young adult, I always try my best to stick with what I believe is right because I've learned that when I don't, I always think about how I could have done things differently.

  12. The word that ultimately comes to my mind when I think of what I wish to see in the world is peace. Even before this pandemic started happening, there were a lot of things happening in the world that disturbed the peace. I hope one day we can all come together and finally gain world peace. I am ready to tackle Pub 3 with both passion and enthusiasm. I have enjoyed writing these published writing pieces this semester. They allowed me to put my writing skills to good use and they challenged me to write about things I typically would not write about. Epictetus’ quote means that everyone knows what they need to do to succeed in life. Regardless of what others think, you should always follow your dreams and do whatever you have to do to make it a reality. This quote can deeply resonate with a scholar because sometimes we are judged for the smallest dreams. We can be told that they are not practical, that we should think realistically in order to be successful. This should never be the case. If someone genuinely believes in their dream, they will do whatever they can to make it come true. Our dreams can eventually imprint the world and make it a better place. If we don’t try to achieve it, we will never know how it will affect our future.

The first word that comes to my mind is happiness. Happiness is something everyone should have, but there are people who can't experience it. I am ready to tackle pub #3 with passion and enthusiasm. Based upon the quote from Epicetus you should always follow what you think would be the best thing for you, despite what other people will tell you. As a scholar, we are always going to be on an unpredictable rollercoaster but if you trust in the process and not be convinced by others, you will become a noticeable individual.

The first word that comes to mind when thinking about what I wish to be seen in the world is resilience. Resilience is such an important quality in life to have. The ability to bounce back even in the face of adversity is a big thing. The ability to stay united under extreme conditions; such as, COVID-19. I think after I finish the papers that are due this week, I will be more than ready to tackle PUB #3 with passion, enthusiasm, and devotion. What I think Epicetus is trying to say, is regardless of what goes on in life, to hold true to who you are a person. To reach for your dreams even if they seem to be a bit bigger than you anticipated. As a scholar, you should always reach for your dreams, even if you fall short. It's okay to fall, but we have to get back up and try again. We must stay true to ourselves and remember our dreams. For our dreams are what make us. We must go out into the world and leave our mark. Be proud of what you bring to the table, to help others and to show your skills off. We all have something to give. Never be afraid to be who you are, and most importantly never be afraid to dream big.

I believe that I tackled my final project with sincere enthusiasm. Every thing I said while writing the PUB was 100% true. There are a lot of values I learned inside and outside of our English class this semester. Perseverance is the first word that comes to my mind when I hear the quote. As someone who has had on and off battles with depression, this semester was extremely hard to start off. Even with all that was going on, I battled through it and was able to stop taking anti-depressants. When Epictetus said "Attach yourself to what is spiritually superior, regardless of what other people think or do. Hold true to your aspirations no what is going on around you. First, say to yourself, what would you be.. then, do what you have to do." it makes me realize that you should never let anyone else stand in the way of your dreams. You have to do what is best for you, even if other people do not agree with your philosophies. You are not always going to have the support of everyone. Sometimes you need to learn how to make it through the storm on your own.

  16. The word that comes to my mind is unity. if the world could just come together and stop that hate, the world would be a happier and better place. As for Pub 3,i totally can tackle it with passion and enthusiasm. Epictetus means that don't be afraid to do what you want to do. don't believe anyone but yourself. This quote impacts me because it shows that you shouldn't be afraid of what others think about your goals and dreams. you should tackle them with pride no matter what they say

  17. The word that comes to mind is happiness. The quote by Epictetus means that you should follow what truly makes you happy. You shouldn't let people make decisions for you or make you believe that what they do is the only way to be happy. This definitely has an impact on me because I'm still young, but I'm going to make my own decisions and do what makes me happy.

  18. The word that comes to mind is passion. Put your all into everything that you do because it is your life to live. Nobody else can live it for you so do everything to the fullest so you have a life to look back on and be content with. Your life is yours and no one else's.

  19. I honestly would mind to see everyone calm down around the world with this entire Pandemic. That would probably be the word that comes to mind. Everyone is freaking out over Covid-19, and I understand why, but there's nothing that we can do except wait and follow the procedures the CDC orders.

  20. The word that comes to my mind is compassion... Although huge strides have been made, I would love to see more acknowledgement and empathy of the unnecessary sufferings of the world.
The quote from Epicteus is speaking on how it is so easy to become a product of a toxic environment...but having faith in your desires is the light you should focus your attention on. I believe he is speaking on our abilities as humans to manifest our dreams by not allowing others to make us lose sight of our visions.

  21. The word that races to my mind when I think of what I want to see in the world is peace. To me there is not enough peace in the world. In my ideal world, I wouldn't want to see any theft as well as fights in the world we're in. When I think of peace I think of people helping out the less fortunate and working together to make the world a safer and better place. World peace is achievable if you do your job to spread the peace and the word.
